The Chief of Koforidua-Oyoko, Nana Osei Sempe II, has called on the Ministry of Education and the New Juaben North Municipal Assembly to urgently complete an eight-year-old six-unit classroom block at Oyoko Methodist Basic School.
According to the chief, completing the long-stalled project will help end the shift system currently in place, reduce truancy among pupils, and improve teaching and learning outcomes.
Nana Osei Sempe II made the appeal during a teachers’ award ceremony he organised to honour educators in the Oyoko Circuit, where 41 teachers were recognised for their dedication and outstanding performance.
He emphasised that adequate classroom infrastructure is critical to creating a conducive learning environment and enhancing academic performance. He therefore urged stakeholders, including government and development partners, to support the completion of the classroom block for the benefit of education in the area.
Meanwhile, the award-winning teachers expressed gratitude to Nana Osei Sempe II for the recognition, describing it as motivating. They also called on the government and the Ministry of Education to provide additional teaching and learning materials and improve their welfare to further strengthen education delivery.
