The Ghana Police Service has arrested two suspects following a viral video showing the physical abuse of a young girl at Agona Jamasi in the Ashanti Region.
The arrests were carried out by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team after swift investigations traced the incident to the community.
One of the suspects, Grace Mensah, was first arrested at Agona Jamasi. Further operations led to the arrest of Godfred Osei Akoto, the man captured in the video assaulting the child.
Preliminary investigations revealed that on December 6, 2025, the 11-year-old victim reportedly left home and did not return.
Police say Osei Akoto claimed he had been authorised by the child’s grandmother to discipline her.
The victim has since been rescued, while both suspects have been handed over to the Mampong Regional Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) for further investigations.
The Police Service has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting children and dealing decisively with all forms of abuse.
