The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has sensitised herbal medicine manufacturers in the Ahafo Region on the processes required to meet FDA standards.
Speaking at the event in Goaso, the FDA Head for the Ahafo, Bono, and Bono East Regions, Akua Amponsah Owusu, explained that participants were taken through proper manufacturing practices and the necessary steps to register their products with the Authority.

She added that the FDA also educated the manufacturers on the procedures to follow when advertising their products, stressing the importance of compliance to ensure consumer safety.
The FDA cautioned that any individual or company that fails to adhere to its directives will face legal action.
The Chairman of the Ghana National Association of Traditional Healers (GNATH) in the Ahafo Region, Yaw Biney Faustinus, acknowledged that although the region has many herbal manufacturers, adherence to FDA regulations and product registration has been a challenge.
He commended the FDA for organising the exercise and assured that he would work with members to ensure full compliance with the Authority’s rules and regulations to safeguard public health in the region.
