Former President John Agyekum Kufuor is urging members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to prioritise unity as the party begins the process of rebuilding ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Speaking on The Delay Show with Deloris Frimpong Manso, Mr. Kufuor encouraged party supporters to rise above internal differences and remain committed to the values that have shaped the NPP since its formation.
“Unity is key to the NPP’s future progress. We might not be friends or allies, but because we all believe in the principles and ideals of the party, it is important to unite to push the party,” he said.
He stressed that unity is essential not only for electoral success but also for effective governance, explaining that the Ghanaian electorate is more likely to trust a party that demonstrates cohesion and purpose.
“Ghanaians appreciate unity. We will be able to serve Ghanaians better if we are united to serve them well when we win power,” he added.
Mr. Kufuor’s appeal comes as the NPP undertakes internal restructuring following its loss in the 2024 elections. The party is set to elect its presidential candidate in January 2026 as part of a broader renewal and reorganisation plan.
