The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asante Akyem Central, Ebenezer Ekow Aidoo, has warned that farm owners found supporting or allowing “galamsey” (illegal mining) operations on their land will be arrested and prosecuted.

Speaking to Adom News correspondent Isaac Amoako during the 41st Farmers’ Day celebration and municipal awards at Asante Akyem Nyobo, the MCE stated that anyone who leases or sells farmland for illegal mining activities in the municipality will face the full force of the law.

Mr. Aidoo described the situation as a serious challenge, emphasizing that such practices are destroying communities and will not be tolerated.

He also called on traditional leaders to support the fight against illegal mining.

Meanwhile, Boahen Job, who was honored as the overall best livestock farmer, encouraged others to view agriculture as a vital and sustainable means of livelihood.
