Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman has paid glowing tribute to Ghana’s farmers, describing their work as the lifeline that sustains the nation’s food systems and daily survival.

In her message to mark this year’s Farmers’ Day, the Vice President praised the dedication, resilience, and courage of the men and women whose labour keeps the country fed.

She highlighted not only the food they produce but also the dignity of their work and the hope they sow each planting season.

Prof. Opoku-Agyeman placed special emphasis on the contributions of women in agriculture, acknowledging the countless women who head to the farms each day to support their households and communities.

According to her, these women represent the strength and perseverance at the heart of the country’s agricultural sector.

“We honour the many women who go to the farms each day to provide for their families. You inspire us to build a system that supports you, protects you, and expands your opportunities,” she said.

The Vice President reaffirmed government’s commitment to implementing policies that strengthen agriculture, improve conditions for farmers, and ensure fair returns for their labour.

She added that Farmers’ Day should not only be a moment of celebration but also a reminder of the collective responsibility to support the sector.

“May God bless our homeland and the farmers who cultivate its soil,” she concluded.
