Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has criticised Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng, questioning his competence and calling for his removal.
Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Kpebu accused Agyebeng of failing to provide effective leadership at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
“I believe the Office of the Special Prosecutor should continue its work, but there is an issue with the manager. We need to strengthen the selection process and avoid nepotism. Kissi Agyebeng was just appointed, but he was not properly vetted,” he said.
Kpebu further challenged the Special Prosecutor to present a record of his legal achievements prior to his appointment.
He also alleged that Agyebeng failed to act on what he described as five cases against former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, suggesting that he “turned a blind eye” and allowed him to evade accountability.
“He did not qualify based on the ranking of lawyers and their experience. He should provide a list of cases he has won before becoming Special Prosecutor so we can evaluate if he meets the qualifications. Kissi Agyebeng needs to be removed. He claims to have five cases against the former Finance Minister Ofori-Atta, yet he allowed him to escape accountability,” Kpebu stated.
