Highlife veteran Nana Acheampong has arrived in Ghana ahead of the final funeral rites of his longtime musical partner and ‘brother,’ Daddy Lumba.

The celebrated musician touched down in Accra last night and called on Ghanaians to join in honouring the memory of the late icon.

“Let’s come together and celebrate the life of my brother Daddy Lumba… My condolences once again to the family and loved ones,” he said.

The funeral is expected to take place on December 13, 2025, as announced by the Manhyia Palace.

However, the ceremony remains in limbo, as the direct family of the late highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosuh—popularly known as Daddy Lumba—has strongly objected to the widely circulated date.

According to the family, a December funeral is impossible due to the ongoing autopsy and investigations in both Ghana and Germany, critical academic examinations for some of the late musician’s children abroad, and the need to allow adequate time for relatives and close associates overseas to prepare and attend.

Nonetheless, Nana Acheampong has arrived in time to offer his support, expressing deep heartbreak over the passing of his ‘brother.’

Nana Acheampong and Daddy Lumba formed one of Ghana’s most celebrated music duos, the Lumba Brothers, after meeting in Germany in the 1980s.

Their partnership revolutionized the highlife genre and birthed a modern sound that influenced an entire generation.

Their debut album, Yeeye Aka Akwantuo Mu, set them on an iconic path, and although they later pursued solo careers, both continued to dominate the highlife music scene.

Despite occasional public speculation about rivalry, both artistes consistently affirmed their deep brotherhood and musical bond, which spanned more than three decades.
