Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has been detained by officials of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), his lawyers have confirmed.

The detention on December 2 followed Kpebu’s attendance at the OSP in response to an official invitation. He was arrested for allegedly obstructing an OSP officer while honouring the summons.

Kpebu had gone to meet investigators regarding his corruption allegations against Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng. Sources indicate that he raised concerns over the composition of the investigative committee, demanding an “independently constituted” panel.

“They kept making me appear before subordinates. Subordinates can’t investigate their boss. It’s incompetence,” Kpebu reportedly said.

Speaking on TV3’s News360, one of his lawyers said, “As we speak now, we are unable to tell where Mr Kpebu is.”

Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
