Golden Star Wassa Limited (GSWL) has presented agricultural inputs worth GH₵400,000 to support the 2025 Farmers’ Day celebrations in Ghana.
Delivering the welcome address at the presentation ceremony, the company’s Deputy Director of Corporate Affairs, Gerrad Boakye, highlighted GSWL’s commitment to supporting farmers and host communities.
He noted that GSWL has invested over GH₵2 million in supporting districts and municipal assemblies within its operational areas over the past 13 years.
He also stated that the company creates employment opportunities for more than 500 community youth and farmers annually under the Golden Star Oil Palm Plantations Scheme.
The items presented include tricycles, bicycles, Wellington boots, cutlasses, knapsack sprayers, wheelbarrows, and sewing machines.
Mr. Boakye appealed to district assemblies to collaborate on alternative livelihood programmes, expressing the company’s readiness for stronger partnerships.

Eight MMDCEs in the Western Region benefited from the donation.
The District Director of Agriculture in the Wassa East District, Ellen Addo, who spoke on behalf of all the MMDCEs, thanked Golden Star Wassa Mine Limited for their continuous support toward Farmers’ Day celebrations in the region.
She urged the government to make farming more attractive to the youth, especially as the government has launched the Feed Ghana Initiative.

The Feed Ghana Initiative is a comprehensive agricultural programme launched by President John Mahama aimed at transforming Ghana’s agricultural sector.

Its key objectives include boosting food production, reducing imports, creating jobs, and ensuring food security.
This year’s Farmers’ Day celebration, themed “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future,” will be held nationwide on December 5, 2025.
