A member of the Ghana Drunkards Association has allegedly taken his own life at Ablekuma Olebu in the Anyaa Sowutuom area of the Greater Accra Region.
According to initial reports, Moses Drybone, president of the association, said the deceased had recently expressed challenges in his marriage. He reportedly left his home, telling friends he needed peace away from his wife’s behaviour.
The man was not seen for several days until his lifeless body was discovered in his room, hanging from the ceiling using a sponge. Police retrieved the heavily decomposed body and conveyed it to the morgue as investigations into the incident begin.
Meanwhile, the Association has urged all members to seek help during difficult times.
“This member of the association committed suicide last weekend due to depression. We urge all members to open up to each other whenever they have problems. We are here to support one another. Please, suicide is never an option,” the Association stated.
