The 31st December Women’s Movement has honoured the late Former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, describing her as a true symbol of African womanhood whose influence transformed the lives of women in Ghana and beyond.

Speaking on Friday, November 28, at her state funeral at the Black Star Square, the Movement reflected on her decades of advocacy, compassion, and unwavering dedication to uplifting the vulnerable, especially women and children.

According to the Movement, Nana Konadu’s leadership transformed the organisation from a small collective of determined women into one of the country’s most powerful forces for empowerment.

They described her as a heroine whose impact and legacy would remain deeply engraved in their hearts.

“She was bold, articulate, principled, and deeply devoted to the people she served. She taught us to be fearless, to stand for justice, and to serve with integrity. Her voice carried the wisdom of experience, the strength of conviction, and the hope of a brighter Ghana where more women take their rightful place in decision-making roles. Even beyond Ghana, Her Excellency embodied African womanhood and leadership, representing our nation on international platforms and championing gender equality and the rights of children,” the Movement said.

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings passed away on October 23, 2025.
