The National Democratic Party (NDP) has paid tribute to its founder, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, describing her as the party’s “guiding light” whose vision transformed women’s participation in politics and left a lasting impact on Ghana’s democratic development.

The tribute was delivered on Friday, November 28, during her state funeral at Black Star Square, where thousands gathered to honour the former First Lady’s life and national contributions.

According to the NDP, Nana Konadu’s advocacy transcended partisan lines, extending to global platforms where she championed equality and social justice. Her work, the party noted, “ushered in a new era of female participation in politics and governance,” inspiring generations of Ghanaian women to pursue leadership roles with courage and determination.

The party described her not only as a political leader but also as a mother, mentor, and visionary who upheld the principle of service above self. Her moral strength, intellectual clarity, and compassion made her a unifying figure whose guidance shaped both the NDP and those who worked closely with her.

Nana Konadu, the tribute emphasized, embodied integrity in public and private life, carrying herself with purpose and dignity.

“She taught us that leadership is not inherited but earned through sacrifice, courage, and the pursuit of justice,” it read.

Highlighting her patriotism, the NDP said her unwavering commitment to the underprivileged reflected a lifelong dedication to national progress.

“She lived for Ghana, worked for Ghana, and left a legacy that will forever guide the path of the National Democratic Party and the nation at large,” the party concluded.
