The children of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, delivered a heartfelt tribute at her state funeral held at Black Star Square in Accra on Thursday, November 28, celebrating her as a woman of conviction, courage, and transformative leadership.

In their emotional message, they described her as a mother who shaped not only their family but the entire nation through her unwavering commitment to justice, women’s empowerment, and national pride.

“You ignited a force that transformed women’s rights. You will be remembered as a woman of action,” they said, highlighting her lifelong fight for equality and her ability to inspire countless women across Ghana.

They remembered her as a leader who lived her values boldly, tackled every issue personally, and brought hope “to the end of every day.”

They also emphasized her role as a partner to the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, noting that their father relied fully on her insight and strength.

“As a mother, you were our protector, our confidant, and most importantly, our friend,” they added, recalling her wisdom, humour, and the “occasional blastings” that shaped them.

The children fondly spoke of her relationship with her grandchildren, describing her as funny, understanding, and deeply loving.

“Mom, queen of our hearts, your legacy lives on through the lessons you taught us. We are consoled by the knowledge that your soul’s mission continues in a higher realm,” they said.

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings passed away on October 23, 2025.
