The University of Media Arts and Communication – Institute of Journalism, in partnership with the Media and Information Literacy Club and Paradigm Initiative, has organized a campus tour dubbed the Digital Rights and Inclusion Board Learning Experience (DRIBLE), aimed at equipping students with the knowledge and skills to navigate and influence Ghana’s evolving digital space.

The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to build a generation of digitally literate young people who understand their rights online and can actively contribute to creating inclusive and safe digital environments.

According to Gbenga Sesan, Executive Director of Paradigm Initiative, “The program is designed to empower young people not only as consumers of digital technologies but also as critical thinkers, creators, and advocates for digital rights.

The goal is to nurture a generation that understands both the opportunities and risks of the digital world.”

A student participant from the Institute of Journalism expressed excitement about the new skills gained. “I now understand what digital rights mean and how we can use our voices to promote safer online spaces, especially for young people,” she said. “This training has shown us that we have a role to play in shaping Ghana’s digital future.”

Speaking to a senior lecturer from the institute, Dr. Kodwo Jonas Anson Boateng noted that the DRIBLE program incorporates many of the topics he teaches under New Media, adding that introducing students to it was a step in the right direction.

As Ghana accelerates its digital transformation agenda, organizers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening digital literacy education nationwide and ensuring that no young person is left behind in the digital era.
