The Nkawkaw Divisional Police Command has arrested three individuals for allegedly stealing cartons of sardines from a container truck involved in an accident at Fodoa in the Kwahu West Municipality of the Eastern Region.
The truck, loaded with sardines and travelling from Accra to Kumasi, reportedly hit a deep pothole upon reaching Fodoa, causing the container—registered AA 119CY—to overturn in the middle of the highway. The driver and his assistant sustained injuries and were rushed to the Holy Family Hospital in Nkawkaw.
As residents and good Samaritans worked to clear the overturned truck and restore traffic flow, the suspects were allegedly caught stealing items from the damaged container, leading to their arrest.
Eyewitness Ayishetu Wahab narrated the incident to Adom News. Police later confirmed that the three suspects have been granted bail but are still assisting with ongoing investigations.
