One person has been hospitalised after a fire destroyed a four-bedroom house at Aboabo Number 2 in the Asokore Mampong Municipality on Wednesday, November 27, 2025.
The blaze reportedly started around 6:30 p.m.
Speaking to Citi News, the Assembly Member for the area, Haruna Abdul Rashid, said he was alerted by a stranger who called to report the fire. He explained that several young men in the community mobilised to contain the flames, but one volunteer was electrocuted in the process. The injured man is currently receiving treatment and is reported to be responding well.
Mr. Rashid noted that the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) quickly intervened by switching off the transformer supplying power to the affected house to prevent further danger. ECG technicians were later seen working on power lines to restore electricity to neighbouring homes.
The Assembly Member added that the affected family has been advised not to return to the house until a full assessment is completed on Thursday.
