The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asunafo North in the Ahafo Region, Joseph Akparibo, has announced that the assembly has implemented strict monitoring mechanisms to curb the misuse of government-supplied support items by Persons With Disabilities (PWDs).

Speaking in Goaso during the presentation of deep freezers, industrial sewing machines, fufu pounding machines, block moulding machines, wheelchairs, knapsack sprayers, and cash to 61 beneficiaries, Mr Akparibo explained that the Social Welfare Department has documented the house numbers and communities of all recipients to ensure effective tracking and evaluation.

He noted that under his administration, the practice of some PWDs selling or misusing items intended to improve their livelihoods will no longer be tolerated. He has directed the Social Welfare Department to conduct regular unannounced visits to beneficiaries.

Some recipients, in interviews with Adom News, expressed gratitude to the government, saying the items will significantly improve their livelihoods and enhance their dignity within their communities.
