Asante Kotoko’s unbeaten run in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League came to an abrupt end on Wednesday after a 2–1 loss to Basake Holy Stars in their outstanding fixture at the AAK II Park.

Both sides played out a cagey first half that produced no goals, but the tempo shifted immediately after the break.

Richmond Somiah fired the hosts into the lead in the 48th minute, only for Kwame Opoku to drag Kotoko level four minutes later.

Just when the match appeared to be heading for a stalemate, Holy Stars struck at the death.

Prince Tweneboah’s 91st-minute finish sealed a dramatic victory and handed Kotoko their first defeat of the campaign.

The result leaves Kotoko fourth on the table with 20 points, while Holy Stars remain in the relegation zone with nine points.

Kotoko now turn their attention to a home clash with Medeama SC at the Baba Yara Stadium, as Holy Stars prepare to welcome Nations FC to the AAK II Park on Matchday 12.
