The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, Reverend Kweku Addo, has visited and consoled the mother of an eight-year-old girl who tragically lost her life in an early morning fire that swept through Dansoman Market.

The visit came hours after firefighters battled the blaze, which destroyed multiple market stalls and left traders counting their losses.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the fire was first reported at 12:02 a.m., with the initial crew from the Dansoman Fire Station arriving just two minutes later. By that time, the fire had already reached an advanced stage, spreading rapidly in several directions.

To contain the inferno, eight fire engines from Industrial Area, Ministries, National Headquarters, Madina, Weija, Anyaa, and Accra City stations were deployed, supported by two private water tankers from the Accra Metropolitan Assembly.

The blaze was contained by 1:51 a.m., brought under control at 3:03 a.m., and fully extinguished by 5:21 a.m., after thorough overhauling to eliminate hidden hotspots.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
