The Hohoe Municipal Assembly, in partnership with the Ghana Education Service (GES), has honoured Mrs. Olivia Sallah of St. Theresa’s Girls Demonstration Primary School with the prestigious Overall Best Teacher/Worker Award at this year’s Municipal Awards Ceremony.
The event, which celebrated excellence in education and public service, brought together teachers, education directors, traditional leaders, and other dignitaries to recognise individuals driving development in the municipality.
Mrs. Sallah, an Assistant Director I with 15 years of teaching experience, was commended for her exceptional instructional skills, innovative teaching methods, and unwavering commitment to both the academic and moral development of her pupils. Her ability to inspire learners and actively support various school programmes earned admiration from colleagues and education authorities alike.
Officials from the Municipal Assembly and GES presenting the award lauded her dedication, professionalism, and resilience, highlighting these qualities as vital for advancing education in Hohoe.

In her acceptance speech, Mrs. Sallah expressed gratitude to her school leadership, fellow teachers, and pupils, dedicating the award to all educators who work tirelessly to nurture the next generation.
Her recognition reflects the Assembly’s commitment to motivating hardworking teachers and enhancing teaching and learning outcomes across the municipality. St. Theresa’s Girls Demonstration Primary School also expressed pride in her achievement, describing it as a testament to the school’s high standards.
The Hohoe Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Victor Kwaku Kovey, praised the collaboration between the Municipal Assembly, the MCE, and the Hohoe MP, Mr. Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo, in supporting the initiative. He noted that nearly two decades had passed since the last municipal awards ceremony due to logistical challenges, making the revival of the event particularly significant.
He also acknowledged the contributions of teacher unions GNAT and NAGRAT for supporting the programme.
The Hohoe Municipality reaffirmed its commitment to empowering educators like Mrs. Sallah, recognising them as key partners in both community and national development.
