The Human Rights Court (2) has reduced the bail of Dr Edwin Provencal, former Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST) Company Limited, from GH¢60 million to GH¢30 million.
The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) had earlier granted Dr Provencal GH¢60 million bail following his arrest at the Kotoka International Airport while attempting to travel abroad.
He is facing charges of causing financial loss to the state and money laundering, allegations he has denied.
Dr Provencal’s lawyer, Charles Okyere, applied for a variation of the bail conditions after his client spent eight days in EOCO custody.
On Tuesday, the court reduced the bail to GH¢30 million with two sureties and ordered Dr Provencal to deposit his passport with the court registry.
Dr Provencal was arrested on November 10, 2025, at Kotoka International Airport while attempting to board a flight to Maputo, Mozambique, allegedly without obtaining the required authorisation.
The reduction of the bail sum sparked spontaneous jubilation at the court premises, as party sympathisers celebrated, shouting: “God is on your side, He will see you through. We are with you.”
