The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asunafo North in the Ahafo Region, Joseph Akparibo, has issued a warning to sawmill operators who have failed to pay their required taxes to the assembly.
Speaking to Adom News in Goaso, the MCE revealed that an estimated 3,000 sawmill companies operate within the municipality, yet only a small number fulfil their tax obligations.
He noted that the situation is negatively affecting the assembly’s Internally Generated Fund (IGF), which is needed to support local development projects.
Mr. Akparibo said his office has begun implementing measures to ensure that all sawmill operators comply with the law. He stressed that any company that continues to evade taxes will be shut down.
