AFC Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola says Antoine Semenyo is facing a race against time to be fit for today’s Premier League clash with West Ham United at the Vitality Stadium.

The forward returned early from Ghana’s international camp after sustaining an injury following the friendly against Japan, a setback the Ghana Football Association (GFA) later confirmed.

Addressing the media ahead of the match, Iraola explained that Semenyo has been managing an ongoing ankle problem, adding that the club will make a late call on his involvement.

“Antoine is different. Justin and Ben have muscle injuries, and Antoine’s was not something new that happened when he was there,” the Spanish said.

“He was already dealing with an ankle injury. I cannot tell you if he’s going to play tomorrow [today] or not. We will have to see,” he added.

Iraola also revealed that a few players who reported back late from international duty may not feature.

“We have a couple of situations with the ones who have arrived late; we have to see if they are comfortable to help us tomorrow.”

Semenyo has been one of Bournemouth’s standout performers this season, contributing six goals and three assists in 11 league appearances.
