Development Economist Dr. George Domfe says he has resolved his recent public misunderstanding with political scientist Prof. Ransford Gyampo, who also serves as CEO of the Ghana Shippers Authority.

In a Facebook post, Dr. Domfe revealed that the two had “a long and cordial telephone conversation” during which they addressed the tensions that arose between them in recent days.

He said Prof. Gyampo admitted that some of his earlier remarks were regrettable, especially given their longstanding friendship and professional relationship.

Dr. Domfe also acknowledged that his own response to Prof. Gyampo’s comments was unfortunate, and confirmed that both men have apologised for their roles in the disagreement.

The clash between the two began at the studios of Accra-based TV3 on Saturday, November 15, 2025.

“We have sincerely apologized to each other… and have mutually agreed to put this episode behind us and to move forward with renewed respect for each other,” Dr. Domfe wrote.

Both academics, noted for their strong contributions to national policy discourse, stressed that differences of opinion should never escalate into personal attacks.

Dr. Domfe further appealed to their relatives and supporters to respect the reconciliation and avoid reigniting the issue.

“I therefore respectfully urge our families, friends, and supporters to respect this mutual understanding and to continue to support us in our professional contributions to national development,” he added.

In his response, Prof. Gyampo said the apology had been accepted, describing Dr. Domfe as his brother.

Their public reconciliation has drawn positive reactions, with many observers welcoming it as a show of maturity and leadership at a time when national debates are often sharply divided.
