I’ll put my GUM aside and join NDC if… – Osofo Kyiri Abosom

Founder and leader of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Rev. Christian Kwabena Andrew, popularly known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom, has hinted at the possibility of abandoning his party to join the National Democratic Congress (NDC) should President John Mahama continue performing impressively in office.

In an interview, Osofo Kyiri Abosom praised the president’s leadership, describing Mahama’s early performance as promising. He revealed that while they exchanged messages, he has not yet paid the president a courtesy call since the 2024 elections.

“If President Mahama keeps up the good work in office, I would put my party, the Ghana Union Movement, aside and join the NDC. The goal is national development,” he stated.

He further suggested that if Mahama maintains his performance, Ghana could consider amending the constitution to allow him an additional four-year term.

Osofo Kyiri Abosom disclosed that he previously supported the NDC during the era of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings before forming his own political party, but he insists his priority remains national progress over partisan loyalty.
