The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has expressed confidence that the Black Stars will return from the 2026 World Cup with a memorable performance.
Ghana secured their spot in next year’s tournament despite missing out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, finishing atop their qualifying group with 25 points.
While the team’s group-stage opponents are yet to be revealed, Minister Adams insists the squad is ready to shine on football’s biggest stage.
“We went there [to previous World Cups] to learn, so we have learnt something and we are more than prepared for next year’s Mundial, and we will come back with something great,” said Adams, also the Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency, during an event hosted by Chinese automaker GWM (Great Wall Motors).
The 2026 World Cup will mark Ghana’s fifth appearance at the tournament, with the team set to discover their group opponents on December 5. The Black Stars’ best showing remains the 2010 edition, when they reached the quarterfinals, but they have not progressed beyond the group stage since.
