Tension is heightening in Kwahu after traditional leaders invoked heavy curses on individuals they believe played a role in the arrest of the Kwahuhemaa, Nana Adwoa Gyamfua III.
The spiritual rituals were performed in parts of Kwahu, targeting officers involved in the operation as well as chiefs and individuals alleged to have influenced the Queen Mother’s detention.
According to the elders, the curses are meant to call on the gods to punish anyone who acted unjustly against the Queen Mother and her lineage.
They noted that the curses will only be lifted when truth and justice prevail.
This development follows the Queen Mother’s public account of her arrest, which she described as degrading. She recounted how her vehicle was blocked and its tyres deflated before she was taken into custody.
Her narration has triggered anger among several chiefs, who insist the incident was a direct attack on the Kwahu stool and its authority.
Nana Kwasi Opoku Minta II has called for calm, revealing that the Inspector-General of Police has assured the traditional council of a full investigation.
However, the curses remain in place as traditional leaders await official action.
