A fresh dawn robbery on the Berekum–Sampa stretch in the Bono Region has reignited fear among travellers, after armed men reportedly stopped vehicles, seized cash and valuables, and disrupted movement along the busy corridor.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
One of the victims told Adom News that even two uniformed military officers who unexpectedly drove into the scene were targeted, underscoring how dangerous the route has become.
This latest attack adds to a growing list of robberies that residents say are linked to the poor condition of the road.
A former legislator for the Jaman North Constituency, Mahama Afful, previously survived a similar ordeal on the same stretch.
In October, the Member of Parliament for Berekum West, Dickson Kyere Dua, toured the road with the police and assured residents that security barriers would be installed to deter robbers. Rango Construction Ltd was also expected to speed up work on the Berekum–Sampa corridor. However, the barriers are yet to be mounted, and road works continue to progress slowly.
With attacks recurring and travellers increasingly anxious, residents are calling for stronger police patrols and a faster pace of construction to restore safety along the route.
