The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has warned that non-applicants who show up at recruitment centres when the exercise resumes in the Greater Accra Region on Thursday, November 20, 2025, risk being arrested.
The caution follows the suspension of the recruitment process after a stampede on Wednesday, November 12, which tragically claimed six lives.
Speaking on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News, Director-General of Public Affairs at the GAF, Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, said stringent measures have been introduced to prevent overcrowding and ensure order.
“If you are a non-applicant, we appeal to the public not to try coming here. We will not allow you in. If it becomes necessary to arrest you and hand you over to the police, we will do so. So we request that the public not accompany applicants,” she cautioned.
Captain Arhin added that military police personnel will be deployed to ensure only valid applicants are admitted.
“We have beefed up our numbers. Even if you are an applicant and you come at the wrong time, it could lead to your disqualification,” she warned.
The Director-General noted that the GAF is still investigating the cause of last week’s incident, particularly since this year’s recruitment has been decentralised across all 16 regions.
“For the first time this year, the exercise has been decentralised to all 16 regions. We are still trying to determine what led to the stampede. Large numbers have attended before, but there has always been orderliness,” she explained.
She added that the institution will await the findings of the Board of Inquiry before making further comments.
“I wouldn’t want to pre-empt the findings. We will wait for the report to determine what really went wrong. Everything used to be at El-Wak, and we have always managed it carefully,” she said.
