Residents call for upgrade of classrooms at Akwaaduro

The chiefs and people of Akwaaduro in the Asunafo North Municipal Assembly of the Ahafo Region have raised concerns over the poor state of classrooms at Akwaaduro M/A Basic School, describing them as substandard and detrimental to teaching and learning.

Nana Osei Kofi, the Linguist and Vice Chairman of the School’s Management Committee, explained that the classrooms, originally built by the community several years ago using mud and sticks, have not been upgraded by the government. He noted that this has significantly affected the teaching and learning environment.

“The entire school needs an upgrade,” Nana Osei Kofi said. “Currently, when it rains, teaching and learning come to a halt due to the horrible state of the classrooms.”

He added that they have appealed to relevant authorities for assistance to ensure the school gets standard classrooms, but so far, no help has been received.

The Headteacher, Kwasi Bio, also called for the introduction of a school feeding program to boost enrollment. He explained that the absence of such a program is affecting student attendance and urged the government to include Akwaaduro M/A Basic School in the national school feeding initiative.
