Ghana forward Brandon Thomas-Asante continued his prolific run in front of goal, finding the net once again as Coventry City eased past Watford 3-1 in the English Championship on Saturday.
The 24-year-old made an instant impact at the Coventry Building Society Arena, rising highest to head home a pinpoint cross from Tatsuhiro Sakamoto just three minutes into the match.
Coventry maintained their blistering start, doubling the lead through Jamie Allen four minutes later before Sakamoto capped a dominant first-half performance with a third goal for the promotion-chasing Sky Blues.
Watford’s troubles mounted in the 44th minute when Ghanaian defender James Abankwah was sent off for a reckless challenge, reducing the visitors to ten men for the remainder of the match.
Despite their disadvantage, the Hornets pulled one back in the second half through Imran Louza’s well-taken penalty, but it proved only a consolation.
Thomas-Asante’s strike takes his season tally to nine goals in 11 appearances, complemented by three assists, a run that has propelled Coventry to the top of the Championship standings.
The in-form forward will be looking to maintain his hot streak when Coventry visit Wrexham A.F.C. at the Racecourse Ground next weekend.
