Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has praised team captain Jordan Ayew for his outstanding leadership and influence both on and off the pitch.
The Leicester City forward played a crucial role in Ghana’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Ayew’s impressive campaign saw him register seven goals and seven assists—contributing directly to 14 goals in just 10 appearances.
Speaking to Joy Sports, Addo commended the 33-year-old’s consistency and maturity, highlighting the example he sets for his teammates.
“Since the day I came, he’s been good,” Addo said.
“I predominantly see him as a centre forward. He’s a great leader. The most important thing is that we have clarity and unity in the team,” he added.
The upcoming tournament will mark Ayew’s third World Cup appearance, having previously featured in the 2014 and 2022 editions.
Ghana, meanwhile, will be making their fifth appearance at the global showpiece next June. The Black Stars will learn their group-stage opponents for the 2026 World Cup on December 5.
