NPP race: Bryan Acheampong dismisses 1% poll rating as “sponsored and meaningless”

-

Presidential hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bryan Acheampong, has brushed off recent opinion polls that rank him at just 1% support among delegates, calling them “sponsored” and “meaningless.”

Speaking at his campaign office on Wednesday, October 15, Dr. Acheampong said he is unfazed by such surveys, stressing that the only result that matters will be the outcome of the party’s presidential primary slated for January 31, 2026.

“I mean, I’ve seen some polls that put me at 1% and some aspirants who have not even left their bedrooms at 20%, and it’s quite interesting,” he remarked.

“So please, I’m not concerned about that at all. The day of the election, January 31st, we will see what the real polls look like.”

He revealed that his campaign team has been approached by individuals offering to manipulate online polls and boost his popularity for a fee — an offer he says he has consistently turned down.

“Many people come with the proposal that, ‘Oh, you are winning, you are at 90%, you are at 70%, give us money so that we can go and put it in the papers, put it on online posts.’ I’m not interested in any of that,” Dr. Acheampong said.

He added that his focus remains on directly engaging with delegates and earning their trust, rather than investing in paid media or online popularity tactics.

Dr. Acheampong’s comments come as the NPP intensifies preparations for its presidential primary on January 31, 2026.

The race has already gained momentum, with aspirants working to strengthen their grassroots appeal and shape public perception ahead of the crucial vote.
