The Federation of African Law Students (FALAS) has announced Dr. Kingsley Agyemang, Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South and a member of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health, as part of the distinguished speakers at the 5th Annual FALAS Continental Conference.

The event will take place at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from October 19 to 25, 2025.

This year’s conference, themed “Strengthening African Youth Leadership through Ubuntu for a United and Independent Africa,” will bring together over 250 delegates from across 45 African countries.

Participants will include law students, policymakers, academics, and development experts engaging in conversations about youth leadership, governance, and continental unity.

Dr. Agyemang is expected to deliver a keynote presentation on “Legislating for Health Justice: Advancing Universal Health Coverage in the Pan-African Context.”

His address will explore how legal frameworks can drive equitable healthcare access across Africa and promote health-centered governance.

Recognised for his work at the intersection of law, policy, and public health, Dr. Agyemang has built an impressive record of leadership and innovation.

As Registrar of the Ghana Scholarships Secretariat, he introduced a decentralised scholarship system that expanded educational access for thousands of Ghanaian students, particularly those from underserved communities.

His engagements with global and local institutions, including Brunel Global Public Health Academy, Aston University, KNUST, GIMPA, and Garden City University, reflect his commitment to aligning education and health policy with national development priorities.

At the Addis Ababa conference, Dr. Agyemang will share the stage with some of Africa’s most respected thought leaders, including Prof. P.L.O. Lumumba, renowned for his advocacy on governance and Pan-Africanism; Her Ladyship Sedinam Awo Kwadam, a Ghanaian judge; and Justice Tujilane Rose Chizumila, a member of the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights.

FALAS International President, Mr. Seyram K. Seyram, described Dr. Agyemang’s participation as “a significant addition to the conference’s vision.” He noted, “Dr. Agyemang represents a new generation of African leaders who combine knowledge, service, and vision. His contribution will strengthen our dialogue on how Africa can legislate for equity, inclusion, and health justice.”

Now in its fifth year, the FALAS Continental Conference has become one of the continent’s most important youth-led platforms for advancing policy and leadership discussions.

The 2025 edition, held in partnership with the African Union’s Women, Gender and Youth Directorate (AU-WGYD), is expected to generate key recommendations aimed at strengthening youth participation, ethical governance, and sustainable development across Africa.

With its strong lineup of speakers and a focus on visionary leadership, the upcoming conference promises to inspire a new wave of collaboration among Africa’s emerging legal minds and policymakers.
