Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew says Ghana’s 5–0 win over the Central African Republic marks a major step toward World Cup qualification.
Goals from Mohammed Salisu, Thomas Partey, Alexander Djiku, Jordan Ayew and Kamaldeen Sulemana ensured the senior national team secured the needed win.
“We knew today’s win would be a big step toward the World Cup, and everyone was fully committed to the cause,” the Leicester City forward told Adom FM.
“We didn’t overthink it, we just wanted to win the game.”
Ayew credited his teammates for his strong performance, adding that their support drives him to excel.
“If it weren’t for my teammates pushing me, I wouldn’t be here. This was a collective effort,” he noted.
He urged fans to keep believing in the team.
“I believe the good days are coming. The fans should enjoy this moment because everything we do is for the country,” he said.
The Black Stars will wrap up their qualifiers with a home game against Comoros on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium with kick-off scheduled at 19:00 GMT.
