Richard Tiimob crowned 2025 Most Outstanding Teacher

Richard Tiimob, a teacher at Savelugu Senior High School(SHS) in the Northern Region, has been named Ghana’s 2025 Most Outstanding Teacher.

This was at the Ghana Teacher Prize ceremony held at the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) in Ho, Volta Region.

Mr. Tiimob received a three-bedroom house as part of his prize in recognition of his remarkable contribution to education and his commitment to shaping lives through teaching.

Expressing gratitude in his acceptance speech, he thanked God, his family, colleagues, students, and school leadership for their support, adding that teaching has always been more than a profession for him but a lifelong calling.

The 2025 Ghana Teacher Prize was held under the theme “Elevating the Status of Teachers for Quality Education.”

The event brought together educators, policymakers, and dignitaries from across the country to celebrate excellence in the teaching profession.

Representing President John Dramani Mahama at the ceremony, the Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, praised teachers nationwide for their resilience, dedication, and invaluable role in national development.

She reaffirmed government’s commitment to improving teacher welfare and ensuring that education remains a driver of Ghana’s progress.

“Teachers are the foundation of every great nation. We must continue to uplift and empower them to deliver quality education for all,” Prof. Opoku-Agyemang stated.

The Ghana Teacher Prize, organised annually by the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the National Teaching Council (NTC), honours teachers who demonstrate exceptional dedication, innovation, and leadership in their schools and communities.
