A man identified as Martin Issah, believed to be in his late 30s, has reportedly been shot and killed by unknown assailants at Aketechieso, a mining community in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region.
The tragic incident occurred on Sunday, October 5, 2025, when Martin and his brother, Daniel Issah, were returning home after mining work at Adomanu.
Report indicates that the two were ambushed by unidentified gunmen who allegedly demanded their gold detector machine.
The Assembly Member for the Aketechieso–Amamuom–Anakyirem Electoral Area, Krobea Asante, confirmed the incident to Accra-based Citi News.
Mr. Asante said the attackers shot Martin in the face, leading to his death, while his brother sustained gunshot wounds but managed to flee.
He further appealed for enhanced police patrols in the area, cautioning that such attacks could escalate if security is not strengthened.
The body of the deceased has been taken to the morgue, while the injured brother is receiving medical care.
Police have since launched an investigation into the incident to apprehend the perpetrators.
