Fuel tanker catches fire on Accra–Buipe road

Fuel Tanker catches fire after tyre bursts on Accra–Buipe road

A fuel tanker traveling from Accra to Buipe for distribution caught fire after one of its tyres burst, according to the Sawla District Fire Command.

ADO1 Joshua Lamptey, who led the firefighting team, said his men rushed to the scene, following a distress call.

Upon arrival, the driver had already used a fire extinguisher to control the flames at the base of the tanker, which was registered GT 9305-25. He commended the driver for his swift and effective response.

ADO1 Lamptey further explained to Adom News that the tanker’s fuel had been safely discharged into another vehicle earlier in the morning, around 2 a.m., preventing a potential disaster. No injuries were recorded.

He advised fuel tanker drivers to take breaks of at least three hours during long trips, especially given the poor road conditions.

The fire was eventually brought under control with assistance from the Bole Fire Station.
