Education Ministry rolls out AI-powered apps for SHS curriculum

The Ministry of Education has announced the introduction of subject-specific Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications for Senior High Schools (SHS) across Ghana to enhance the teaching and learning of the new SHS curriculum.

The initiative will support more than 68,000 teachers in delivering lessons to over 1.4 million students, while promoting innovation in education without compromising Ghana’s ethical and cultural values.

The AI apps were co-created by the Ghana Education Service (GES), NaCCA, NTC, NaSIA, and CENDLOS, with technical input from Playlab AI and support from Transforming Teaching, Education and Learning (T-TEL) and the Mastercard Foundation.

According to the Ministry, the tools, built on Ghana’s curriculum materials—will help teachers plan lessons, conduct assessments, and access interactive resources, while giving students tailored learning support.

The statement added that the rollout will strengthen curriculum delivery, bridge teaching gaps, and provide teachers and learners with innovative tools for improved learning outcomes.
