Minority rebuts Sam George over DStv impasse

The Minority Caucus on Parliament’s Communication and Information Committee has responded to comments by MP for Ningo-Prampram, Samuel Nartey George, over the ongoing impasse with pay-TV operator DStv.

In a statement signed by Ranking Member of the Committee on Information and Communication, Matthew Nyindam, on October 1, 2025, the minority accused the lawmaker of arrogance and inconsistency, citing his earlier demand for a 30% reduction in subscription fees rather than service upgrades.

They questioned why his position appears to have shifted.

The group further demanded that the Minister of Communication explain the rationale behind the change in stance and account for revenues collected from the GH¢10,000 levy imposed on DStv since its inception.

While dismissing Sam George’s remarks as insulting, the minority stressed their commitment to due parliamentary process and reiterated that responsibility for convening meetings rests with the committee chair.
