Gov’t to establish Cybersecurity Fund – Sam George

Minister of Communications, Samuel Nartey George

The Minister of Communications, Samuel Nartey George, has announced plans to establish a Cybersecurity Fund to boost Ghana’s fight against cyber threats.

Speaking at the launch of the 2025 National Cyber Security Awareness Month on Wednesday, October 1, at Burma Hall in Accra, the Minister said the Fund would provide a sustainable financing mechanism for key national initiatives in line with Sections 29 and 30 of the Cybersecurity Act, 2020.

“The Fund will ensure financial resources are available to support national cybersecurity initiatives, protect critical information infrastructure, and build capacity across all sectors,” he stated.

Mr. George also stressed the need to address human vulnerabilities in cyber defense, citing a study that attributes 95% of cyber breaches to human error.

This year’s Cyber Security Awareness Month is themed: “A Safe, Informed and Accountable Digital Space.”
