Ken Agyapong’s camp demands sanctions against Wontumi and Abronye

The campaign team of Assin Central MP and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant, Kennedy Agyapong, has called for immediate disciplinary measures against two regional chairmen, accusing them of conduct that could undermine party unity.

The officials in question are Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, and Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe, widely referred to as Abronye DC.

In a statement signed by campaign spokesperson Kwasi Kwarteng, Esq., the team referenced videos circulating on social media in which the two allegedly claimed that the party’s electoral roll and processes were being manipulated to favour a particular candidate ahead of the January 2026 presidential primaries.

The statement described the remarks as a serious breach of the NPP constitution, warning that such allegations threaten both the credibility and cohesion of the primaries.

According to the campaign team, a mere disassociation by the national leadership is insufficient.

“The leadership must go beyond distancing itself from these reckless utterances and take disciplinary measures,” the release stressed.

It further noted that both chairmen occupy senior positions within the NPP as members of the National Executive Committee and the National Council—two of the party’s highest decision-making bodies.

The Agyapong campaign urged the NEC and National Council to summon the two chairmen before the appropriate disciplinary committees without delay, warning that failure to act would deepen perceptions of bias and feed suspicions that the process is being tilted in favour of one candidate.

Reassuring supporters, the campaign team emphasized its commitment to transparency, adding that it has already implemented measures to safeguard the integrity of the primaries.
