Asante Kotoko have set up a blockbuster clash with Moroccan heavyweights Wydad Casablanca in the second round of the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup qualifiers.
The Porcupine Warriors sealed their progression on Sunday after edging Nigerian side Kwara United 1-0 in Abeokuta, courtesy of a decisive strike from Hubert Gyau.
That result secured a 5-3 aggregate victory, adding to their thrilling 4-3 win in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Kotoko’s reward is a meeting with Wydad, a three-time CAF Champions League winner and a recent participant in the expanded FIFA Club World Cup.
Both sides boast rich continental histories, with Kotoko having lifted the Champions League trophy twice, though neither has yet claimed the Confederation Cup.
The first leg will be staged in Kumasi, before the Ghanaian giants travel to Casablanca for the return fixture in October, a tie already shaping up as one of the highlights of the competition’s early rounds.
