See what happened when Kumawood actor Sumsum met Sharaf Mahama

Popular Kumawood actor Yaw Adu, widely known as Sumsum Ahuofe, had a lively encounter with Sharaf Mahama, son of President John Dramani Mahama, during the maiden edition of the Ashanti Festival.

In a TikTok video, the comic actor was visibly excited as he met Sharaf during a trophy presentation ceremony following a football match at a community park on the opening day of AshantiFest, Saturday, April 12, 2025.

In the footage, Sumsum warmly referred to Sharaf as his “brother” and described him as a “future president,” drawing hearty laughter from Sharaf as the two shook hands and shared a cheerful exchange.

The actor was joined by several of his Kumawood colleagues, including Michael Afranie, Papa Kumasi, Asare Bediako, Shifo, Dr Likee, Wayoosi, 39/40, as well as blogger Papa J of Poleeno Multimedia and content creator Gunshot.

They participated in a friendly football match between Kumawood stars and leading media personalities from the Ashanti Region.

The Ashanti Festival, spearheaded by Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Frank Amoakohene, aims to revive the region’s once vibrant entertainment industry while showcasing and celebrating the rich culture and heritage of the Ashanti people.

Launched on Saturday, April 12, 2025, the festival will run until Saturday, April 26, 2025, featuring activities such as a Jama festival, food fair, free health screening, blood donation exercise, the Ashanti Konnect concert, a movie night honouring late Kumawood legends, a fundraising drive with the Heal Komfo Anokye team, and a thanksgiving service marking 26 years of the reign of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
