The National Chairman of the Referees Association of Ghana (RAG), George Saijah, has commended Ghanaian referees for their performance in the opening rounds of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League.
Speaking on Adom TV’s Fire-for-Fire, Saijah expressed satisfaction with the officiating standards, noting that referees have displayed professionalism and composure in handling the early fixtures.
“With the two games played so far in the Ghana Premier League, I will commend the referees for doing a good job. I have watched two games, and they are doing well,” he stated.
He, however, admitted that not every decision was perfect and revealed that he has provided feedback to some officials to help them avoid repeating mistakes.
“However, I have corrected some referees on decisions they made so they don’t repeat them going forward,” he explained.
Saijah emphasized the importance of self-assessment in officiating, noting that referees are often the first to recognize when their performances fall short.
“As a referee, if you don’t officiate well, you will know within yourself after the game. If you do well, you will be happy,” he added.
His comments come amid ongoing criticism of refereeing in Ghana, with clubs and fans frequently questioning the integrity and consistency of officials’ decisions.
