The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appointed Desmond Ofei as the new head coach of the national U-23 team, the Black Meteors.

Ofei, who also doubles as assistant coach of the Black Stars, will be assisted by former international Yaw Preko and Baba Nuhu Malam.

The technical team has been further strengthened with Montari Tagoe as goalkeepers’ coach and Atta Yeboah, Welfare Officer at Aduana Stars, taking up the role of Team Manager.

Other appointments include Henry Bart-Plange as Team Masseur and Baba Aluta of Aduana Stars as Equipment Officer. Eli Vorgbe has also been named Video Analyst to boost performance analysis.

The medical team will be led by Dr. Eric Tetteh as Team Doctor, supported by physiotherapist Collins Annor.

Ofei replaces Kassim Mingle, who has been reassigned to handle the Black Galaxies.

The GFA expressed confidence that the revamped setup will deliver the technical and medical support needed to enhance the Black Meteors’ competitiveness as they prepare for upcoming international tournaments.

The Meteors last qualified for the Olympic Games in 2004, and the new technical direction is expected to rekindle hopes of ending the two-decade absence.
