DSTv pricing review committee gets one-week extension

The Minister of Communications, Sam George, has granted a one-week extension to the stakeholder committee reviewing DSTv pricing in Ghana.

The committee, which began its work on September 8, 2025, will now submit its final report on September 29, 2025.

In a statement on Tuesday, September 23, the National Communications Authority (NCA) said the extension would allow the committee to complete consultations and present recommendations that fully address the Minister’s concerns over DSTv pricing.

The committee’s mandate includes developing a shared understanding of DSTv pricing in Ghana, proposing commercially viable measures acceptable to all parties, and creating a roadmap to curb cross-border piracy of DSTv decoders and services from Nigeria.

The NCA noted that while the committee has made significant progress since its inauguration, additional time is needed to harmonise the positions of stakeholders.

The review follows growing concerns about the affordability of DSTv subscriptions in Ghana and the ongoing challenge of illegal cross-border access to the service.
