Asante Kotoko forward Albert Amoah has expressed confidence that they will seal qualification to the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup despite their narrow win over Kwara United.
The Ghana FA Cup champions edged the Nigerian side 4-3 in a thrilling first-leg encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Amoah, who bagged a brace, admitted that defensive lapses allowed Kwara back into the game but maintained that Kotoko will finish the job in Nigeria.
“I think we played very well, we wanted to score more goals, we got the goals, but a few mistakes at the back,” he said.
“We conceded three goals, but we are not giving up; we are going there to qualify,” Amoah added.
Midfielder Emmanuel Antwi and Joseph Ablorh were also on target for Kotoko in the seven-goal thriller.
Kotoko will travel to Nigeria for the return leg at the M.K.O. Abiola International Stadium on Sunday, September 28.
The aggregate winner will advance to face Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club in the second preliminary round.
