Open Minds Book Club supports literacy drive at Tema-LEAP Ashaiman

On September 20, 2025, Open Minds Book Club visited the Tema Literacy Education Assistance Program (Tema-LEAP) in Ashaiman to host a special reading session for children.

Tema-LEAP is an educational centre dedicated to supporting both children and women in achieving literacy.

The outreach featured interactive reading and colouring activities with 20 pupils, supported by a team of five dedicated volunteers.

As part of the initiative, Open Minds donated two marker boards, a mobile library, stationery, exercise books, and over 250 storybooks. Snacks and drinks were also shared with the children to make the session lively and engaging.

The Administrator of the school, Mrs. Antoinette Kearney, expressed heartfelt appreciation, highlighting the positive impact of Open Minds Book Club in promoting literacy in schools.

She noted that the donations would go a long way in supporting teaching and learning.

The Executive Director of Open Minds Book Club, Miss Precious Akos Dominic, thanked donors for their continued support and commended the teachers for their dedication to nurturing the children.

Open Minds reaffirmed its commitment to advancing literacy among school children in both rural and urban communities.
